Boys Programme (BBB – Building Bonding Beyond)

Boys Programme (BBB – Building Bonding Beyond)

  • Empowering Boys: The primary objective of the program is to empower boys aged 11 to 16 living on the Cape Flats. This empowerment involves equipping them with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to resist negative influences like gangsterism and stereotypes.
  • Breaking the Cycle of Violence: A critical aspect is breaking the cycle of violence. This can be achieved by providing boys with alternatives to violence, emphasizing conflict resolution without resorting to aggression, and highlighting the negative consequences of violent behaviours.
  • Challenging Stereotypes: The program aims to challenge harmful stereotypes that associate masculinity with violence, dominance, and aggression. It encourages boys to embrace a healthier, more positive concept of masculinity that promotes respect for all individuals, regardless of gender.
  • Providing Positive Role Models: Recognizing that boys often lack positive male role models, the program will establish mentorship programs with responsible and caring adult men who can guide and inspire the boys. These mentors can help counteract the influence of gangsters.
